Meet Our Staff

Jamie Basignani - Principal

Mrs. BasignaniFamily

Welcome to Middleborough Elementary! I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition that has produced so many outstanding students. This is my 13th year as a member of Team BCPS. Over the years, I have served as an Assistant Principal at Perry Hall and Pinewood Elementary Schools, an Instructional Coach at Dundalk Elementary, and a classroom teacher at Oakleigh Elementary. I have a Master’s in School Improvement Leadership from Goucher College, and a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Indiana University of PA (IUP). My husband Derek and I reside in Harford County with our 2 children, Nico and Elianna. They keep us busy with soccer, ballet, and swim lessons!

All of us at Middleborough Elementary School are eager to begin what promises to be the best year ever. This year, we will continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and build relationships. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors—teachers, students, and parents—are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.  My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in, call, or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!

Andrew Sands- Assistant Principal

My name is Andrew Sands and I am very excited to be the Assistant Principal at Middleborough Elementary School.  Prior to joining the Mariner family, I was a special education teacher for eight years and then transitioned to a first-grade teacher for five years.  I have my bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Mercyhurst University along with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Edinboro University. My family is also a part of BCPS, my wife is the P.E. teacher at Villa Cresta Elementary and my son is at Joppa View Elementary.  Last October, we welcomed our daughter Riley to the family and the past 11 months have been a blast.  I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in the Mariner community.  Let’s have a great year!
